Inside Our Shunde Factory: How a Dining Chair Is Made

Blog

Every Oakline dining chair passes through 14 production stages before it is packed for export. It starts in our timber yard, where FSC-certified oak boards are graded by hand and kiln-dried to 8–10 percent moisture content to prevent warping in dry or humid climates.

CNC machines then cut the legs, rails and backrest to tolerances of 0.5 mm. Our carpenters fit each joint with mortise-and-tenon construction and glue, and corner blocks are added for extra strength under daily restaurant use.

Finishing and inspection

  • Three rounds of sanding before stain and lacquer
  • Upholstery with high-resilience foam of 35 kg/m³ density
  • Load testing to BIFMA guidelines on random samples from each batch

Before packing, our QC team checks color, stability and hardware on every piece and records the results under our ISO 9001 system. It is a process our 380-person team repeats for around 120,000 pieces each year.
