What CARB P2 Compliance Means for US Furniture Importers
Any furniture containing MDF, particleboard or hardwood plywood sold in the United States must meet formaldehyde emission limits set by CARB Phase 2 and the federal TSCA Title VI rule. Shipments without proper labeling and certificates can be held at customs or rejected by retailers.
What importers should verify
- Panels come from mills certified by an approved third-party certifier
- Each product or carton carries a compliant label
- The supplier keeps purchase records and test reports for at least 3 years
Oakline uses CARB P2 certified panels across our casegoods, beds and office desks, and we label every carton for US-bound orders. Our documentation pack includes panel certificates, batch records and the importer declaration template.
As US demand for hotel and student housing furniture grows, compliance is becoming a standard requirement in project tenders. Planning for it at the quotation stage avoids costly delays later.
